Michael Jackson - Thriller

|

With the sad happenings of yesterday, I couldn't think of a better way to kick off Musical Karma than with the best video of all time. This video stands the test of time, IMHO. It really encompasses what a music video should have: good music and a story you can follow. I'm not big on plain concert videos. Sure, I'll watch 'em if it's a song/artist I really like, but otherwise I'd just as soon hear the song on the radio. But when you add the video element to the audio, there should be something more there, and this video perfects that concept.

Thriller facts:
  1. Premiered December 2, 1983
  2. Directed by John Landis (Animal House, The Blues Brothers, An American Werewolf in London)
  3. Cost: $500,000, at the time, the most expensive video ever made
  4. Narrator: Horror icon Vincent Price
  5. Jackson's co-star Ola Ray was the Playboy Playmate of the month, June, 1980
  6. List in the Guinness World Records as the "most successful music video", selling over 9 million units
